Having lost 8 out of their 12 games, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are out of the IPL 2020 playoffs race. It is the first time in the tournament history that the Chennai-based franchise has missed out on a playoff berth.
Despite the poor showing this season, CSK fans are very loyal towards their team and that shows in their reactions.
According to a report published in India Today, Gopikrishnan, a resident of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, has spent a whopping 1.50 lakhs on painting his house in CSK yellow. He also has portraits of CSK skipper MS Dhoni painted on the front walls while the sidewall of his house has CSK logo and tag line "Whistle Podu" on it.
Moved by the gesture, Dhoni on Monday (October 26) sent a special message for his superfan and his family.
“I saw it on Instagram. I feel it’s a great gesture and it’s only about me, they (Gopikrishnan and his family) are the greatest fans of CSK also,” Dhoni said in a video posted by CSK on Twitter.
“The way they have done it, everybody will know what they are really talking about. It shows the kind of feeling that they have towards CSK and towards me. It’s not something that can be done very easily. You say, you decide, the whole family needs to agree on that. And this is something that will stay,” he added.
Chennai Super Kings have two remaining fixtures in the ongoing IPL. While the Dhoni-led will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on October 29, they will face Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their last game on November 1.
