IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as Mandeep Singh's 66* powers KXIP to 8-wicket win over KKR

Mandeep Singh and Chris Gayle had a brilliant partnership | IPL/BCCIKolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 46th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sharjah on Monday (October 26).

Asked to bat first, KKR posted 149/9 in 20 overs on the back of Shubman Gill’s 45-ball 57 and skipper Eoin Morgan’s 25-ball 40. Lockie Ferguson also played a valuable cameo of 13-ball 24*.

For KXIP, Mohammad Shami was the stand-out bowler, claiming 3 wickets by conceding 35 runs in his four overs. Chris Jordan (2-25) and Ravi Bishnoi (2-20) also picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Punjab rode on Mandeep Singh’s unbeaten 56-ball 66 and Chris Gayle’s brutal 29-ball 51 to overhaul the target in 18.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

With this victory, Kings XI also overtook Knight Riders in the points table and are now at the fourth position.

Cricket fraternity lauded Mandeep Singh for playing a valiant knock just a few days after his father's demise.
