IPL 2020: "Belief within KXIP camp great since the super over win versus MI" - Arshdeep Singh

The young Indian pacer talked in the aftermath of KXIP's fourth successive victory.

KXIP beat SRH by 12 runs in a low-scoring contest | BCCI/IPLComing out victorious from a thrilling multiple super over tussle with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) boosted the morale within the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) camp significantly and acted as a launchpad to their magnificent turnaround, said the team's young Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh.

The 12-run heist against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday (October 24) was reflective of the confidence wave that KXIP are carrying with them.

The team didn't give up despite posting a modest total of just 126/7 and ultimately ended up dismissing the opposition for 114.

Arshdeep, who himself contributed another fine spell of 3/23 towards the cause, was absolutely delighted with his team's fourth successive win.

“We are not looking that far and taking it game by game. After we won that Super Over, the belief has been great in the squad. We believe that we can do anything that is needed for the team. We just stuck to our plans and it paid off," he said at the post-match press conference, as quoted by PTI

Besides him, Chris Jordan (3/17) also picked up three wickets for KXIP. But Arshdeep reserved special praise for wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, whose seamless transition from U-19 level to IPL cricket continues to warm hearts. Against SRH, Bishnoi only took 1 wicket, but conceding just 13 runs in his four overs, the 20-year-old played his part to perfection.

"Ravi has been really exceptional for us. He has been bowling really well. The main thing is that his overs are very economical. And when he gets a chance, he gives us a major breakthrough,” Arshdeep said.

Fifth in the points table now, KXIP look set to keep the winning run going and make the playoff race all that more interesting.

"The score wasn’t big so we thought we’d give it our best. But in the end, we saw an opportunity for the win. The plan was to dig it into the wicket and make them hit to the big side," said Arshdeep.

"I’ve been backed up really well by the management, and I’m enjoying this moment. The plan was to just hit the hard lengths," he signed off.
