Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by 59 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and registered their sixth win of the tournament while Delhi Capitals suffered their fourth loss.
Earlier Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Anrich Nortje gave them a perfect start by removing Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi cheaply and at 42/3 in the 8th over Knight Riders were in big trouble but Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine changed their gears and counter attacked and it paid off as they added 115 runs in the next 9 overs. Both the batsmen also brought up their respective fifties and eventually Kolkata Knight Riders finished on 194/5 in 20 overs.
In reply, Delhi Capitals had a very poor start as they lost Ajinkya Rahane on the first ball, and then in the next over in-form Shikhar Dhawan also got out and both the wickets were taken by Pat Cummins. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant rebuilt the innings with 63 runs stand but they couldn't score quick runs and resultant they threw their wickets off Varun Chakravarthy's bowling and after that Delhi team lost the plot and kept losing wickets for fun and spinner Varun Chakravarthy finished with a fifer and Delhi finished on 135/9 in 20 overs and suffered a big 59 runs loss.
