IPL 2020: MI issue statement as Rohit Sharma misses out the game against CSK due to injury

Rohit picked up the hamstring injury during Mumbai Indians’ last outing.

Rohit Sharma | IANSIndian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) have issued a statement regarding skipper Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury, which ruled him out of the clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (October 23).

“Rohit Sharma has suffered left leg hamstring strain during Mumbai Indians’ last outing. Rohit has made good progress over last four days, while the management is taking one day at a time monitoring the recovery process in consultancy with BCCI,” MI said in a media release.

“Rohit has been advised rest for the match against CSK today. Kieron Pollard will lead the team tonight,” the press release, issued just before the toss, further stated.

Meanwhile, Pollard opted to bowl first after winning the toss against CSK and he also confirmed that Saurabh Tiwary will play in place of Rohit in this match.

“We are going to bowl first. Don't expect the wicket to change much and hopefully there's some dew. We want to qualify to the playoffs first and we still have to come out and play good cricket. We have spoken about areas we need it improve and we want to execute them in the middle tonight. Rohit is struggling with his left hamstring and hopefully he will be fit soon and take the captaincy. Only change we have is Saurabh Tiwary comes in for Rohit,” Pollard said after the toss.
