IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as CSK’s innings unfolds for a paltry 114/9 against MI

Boult returned with the figures of 4/18 in his four overs.

Rahul Chahar celebrates after removing MS Dhoni | IPL/BCCIChennai Super Kings (CSK) are facing Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 41st match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sharjah on Friday (October 23).

MI’s stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard opted to bowl first after winning the toss and his decision turned out to be a great one. From the very first over, Mumbai bowlers wreaked havoc on CSK’s batting line-up and it continued till the 20th over.

The duo of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah (2-25) ran through the top-order to reduce CSK to 3 for 4 inside three overs. While Boult dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) and Faf du Plessis (1), Bumrah removed Ambati Rayudu (2) and N Jagadeesan (0).

In the fifth over, Boult also got rid of Ravindra Jadeja (7) as CSK slipped to 21/5. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar (2-22) then came to the party, dismissing MS Dhoni (16) and Deepak Chahar (0) in quick succession to dent CSK further.

Thanks to Sam Curran’s 47-ball 52, CSK managed to post a respectable 114/9 in 20 overs. Curran was Boult’s fourth victim in the last delivery of the innings as the left-arm pacer finished with figures of 4 for 18 in his four overs.

Cricket experts were quite critical of CSK's yet another poor showing with the bat.
