West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder had an impressive maiden outing in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 40th game of the league against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday (October 22) in Dubai, UAE.

Holder came into the SRH set-up as Mitchell Marsh's replacement and he finally got his maiden IPL 2020 game against RR and the all-rounder took the opportunity with both hands to play a significant role in Hyderabad’s 8-wicket win.

The speedster was the most impressive bowler for SRH, as he put up a fine show with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3/33 in his four overs.

Following his impressive outing, Holder was really pleased with his own performance with the ball and to be able to get his first game of the season and deliver against RR.

The all-rounder further said he tried to not be predictable and use the variations to good effect on the Dubai wicket – which somewhat helped the bowlers but wasn't smooth for batting.

Holder told SRH teammate Vijay Shankar in a video posted by IPL on Twitter: “It is pleasing. Good to get a game. It has been a while since I last played in the IPL. I really wanted to get back in IPL cricket for a long time and it is really good to get the opportunity. Glad I could make an impact in the game.”

The West Indies Test skipper further added, “I was pleased with the way I bowled. I tried not to be too predictable. It was an opportunity to get wickets in the back end.”

Meanwhile, Shankar said it was a much-needed performance for him since he hasn’t been impressive in the recent games in the ongoing IPL 2020 after contributing unbeaten 52 in SRH’s massive win over RR.

Shankar told Holder: “It was a much-needed performance for me. I have been batting well in the nets. It's just that I batted 18 balls before this innings. So, it was a very, very important innings for me to go out there and play. We lost two early wickets and then they sent me and I had to play those overs.”

He signed off by saying, “...Credit to Manish Pandey (83), he was hitting the ball really beautifully and timing it beautifully. It was a good game from the team as a whole.”
