IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity lauds RCB’s dominating 8-wicket win over KKR

Kohli and Gurkeerat ensured RCB won with 8 wickets in hand | BCCI/IPLThe 39th match of the IPL 2020 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) rout Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a dominating performance. Eoin Morgan had won the toss and chosen to bat first on a newly laid pitch in Abu Dhabi.

The decision came back to bite them as they were routed for 84/8 in 20 overs. Eoin Morgan top-scored with 30, while Mohammed Siraj picked 3/8 and became the first bowler ever in IPL history to bowl 2 consecutive maiden overs. Chahal also pitched in two wickets.

During the chase, Morgan held off their star bowler Lockie Ferguson till the 7th over, but until then it was too late to make a fight of this total. Padikkal (25), Gurkeerat (21*), and Kohli (18*) took the team to the win in the 14th over. Ferguson picked one wicket while one was run out.

RCB now moves to second place with 14 points to their name and their net run rate (NRR) is positive, while KKR stays put at no.4, with their NRR taking a hit.
