Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are on a path of resurgence after winning their last three matches in the ongoing IPL 2020. They were once at the bottom of the points table, but are now placed 5th with 8 points to their name.
Their recent most victory came against table-toppers Delhi Capitals, who were defeated by five wickets as Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell fired with the bat, while Mohammad Shami picked 2 wickets in a brilliant display of fast bowling.
"It was good that we did not take the match till the last over and got it done with six balls to spare. It's a great thing for the entire team, we have got three wins in a row at the moment, the feeling is great amongst the group. We are getting some momentum at the right time and hopefully, we can stay into that kind of form," said Maxwell in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of KXIP.
Maxwell was all praise for Mohammad Shami who has 16 wickets in 10 matches to his name.
"Shami, he is probably the best yorker bowler in the competition at the moment, the way he's executing under pressure, we all saw the way he defended that Super Over last game against Mumbai. He has been exceptional for us, he kept it to a score that we all thought was maybe 10 or 15 below par so hats off to him. He has been outstanding for us," he added.
Delhi Capitals had made 164/5 thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s second century in two matches in IPL 2020, with Shami taking 2/28. However, Pooran’s quick-fire fifty and Maxwell’s finishing touches, helped KXIP chased down a total of 165 with six balls to spare.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will next take on SunRisers Hyderabad on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium.
