Shikhar Dhawan is at the helm of the Delhi Capitals' (DC) batting for the last 4 games. He scored two fifties followed by two hundreds and became the first batsman in IPL history to do so. However, his second century came in a losing cause against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
DC posted a competitive total of 164/5 in their 20 overs on the back of Dhawan's 106 not out. However, KXIP batting came to the party and completed their streak of beating the top three teams in their last three games.
IPL 2020: “I feel we fell 10 runs short”, admits Shreyas Iyer after DC’s 5-wicket loss to KXIP
The left-handed opener believes that the defeat won't hamper their IPL 2020 campaign a lot and would in fact motivate them to come back harder for the remaining games.
Dhawan said in the post-match presentation ceremony, "We gonna have a discussion and see where we can improve. We have been playing very well quite consistently. This is not going to put us down. We would try to come back stronger."
The 34-year-old cricketer did not know until being asked about it that he had become the first batsman in IPL history to record consecutive tons. He revealed that he did not know it until the ceremony and also explained how he got to the mark.
He said, "I didn't know ( when asked if he knew that he was the first man in IPL to score back-to-back tons). Today, it happened that way (that no one could stick around with me). I took the responsibility of holding one end up and was also hitting the boundaries when I got the chance."
