Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra, who played under MS Dhoni for both the Indian cricket team and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, has opened up about his “different bond” with the legendary cricketer while hailing his incredible personality that instills only positive energy to others.

Dhoni has achieved everything on the cricket field from being the world’s only captain to win all ICC trophies to India’s most successful captain and the best finisher of his generation but for Nehra, it is not about only achievements, but his ability to nurture talent while calling him a “really special” cricketer.

Praising former India captain, Nehar said Dhoni always looks at the “positive side of everything” and he always says one can either win a cricket match or learn from it, but never lose. His comments came on a special occasion when Dhoni became the 1st player to feature in 200 IPL matches on 19th October.

The CSK skipper achieved the feat during the 37th game of the ongoing IPL 2020 against RR in Abu Dhabi on Monday, although, the occasion couldn’t be special as the franchise suffered a 7-wicket loss to Royals.

Nehra told Star Sports: “See, whenever you discuss his name, what comes to your mind? Solidity and consistency. He gives so many reasons for fans to smile, whether you talk about Indian colors, whether you talk about CSK colors. There is so much to learn from him.”

He further added, “For me, MS Dhoni is someone, as a youngster or as a senior pro, he is always with you hands-on. He always looks at the positive side of everything. He always says, you either win or you learn, you never lose: I have played with him, I am not going by results like winning a World Cup or a Champions Trophy, all that is a by-product. He is somebody who is really special.”

On his personal equation with Dhoni, the former pacer said: “I have a different bond with him.”

Nehra signed off by saying, “He is not someone who carries his phone all the time but whenever we meet, even if I meet him after a year or two, we feel like we are meeting every day. Long story cut short, he is positive energy for everyone.”
