Dinesh Karthik on Friday (October 16) left everyone shocked as he handed over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captaincy to Eoin Morgan for the remaining IPL 2020.

Karthik’s decision came in the wake of KKR’s humiliating 82-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their last outing.

The franchise confirmed the news through a media release which states: “Dinesh Karthik has informed the KKR management that with a view to focusing on his batting and contributing more to the team’s cause, he wished to handover the captaincy to Eoin Morgan.”

Minutes after the news, former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter and shared a cryptic post, which reads: “It takes years to build a legacy but a minute to destroy it”.

During his seven-year stint with KKR as a captain, Gambhir had led the team from the front and played an instrumental role in winning them the 2012 and 2014 IPL titles.
