IPL 2020: "Trying to break the second half into a mini tournament," reveals CSK's Dwayne Bravo

CSK are currently ranked 6th on the IPL 13 Points Table.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has revealed that the three-time champions are trying to break the tournament into two halves and taking one step at a time to win matches at a stretch in the second half in the ongoing IPL 2020.

At the moment, the CSK is placed in the sixth position in the points table with six points from eight matches after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 20 runs on Tuesday (October 13) in Dubai.

However, Bravo admitted that CSK was in such a position before and bounced back and this time also, the West Indian all-rounder hopes for the same in the ongoing IPL 2020.

The veteran also said it was tricky to defend 167 against SRH, but he and Karn Sharma took two wickets each to restrict Hyderabad to 147/8 in the 29th game of the IPL 13 in Dubai.

Bravo told host broadcaster Star Sports: “I enjoy these moments of the game, especially the back end of it. I must give the whole credit to Shardul (Thakur). His 19th over made it really easy for me (in the win against SRH). Rashid Khan can be a dangerous player to deal with.

A total team effort. Defending a total of 167 is tricky, powerplay needs to be good. No panic. CSK was in this position before in 2010. We're trying to break it into a mini-tournament (and) see how many we can win in the second half.”

CSK tried a different opening combination, sent Sam Curran to open with Faf du Plessis instead of Shane Watson and Bravo was happy that their plan worked against SRH, as CSK posted a total of 167/6.

The all-rounder further explained, “We had a different game-plan today. Good that we tried something different and it worked. At the end of the day, both teams have to play on it (the pitch) and so who adapts better wins. We don't think about the track that much.”

Bravo signed off by saying, “I had a stint with him (Sam Curran) and his brother at Surrey. Really enjoyed playing with both of them. He (Sam) has a lot of heart and character. We had a chat. Sam, I, or Jadeja weren't getting enough balls (batting time in the middle). So why not send one of them up.”
