Delhi Capitals’ star all-rounder Akshar Patel has blamed team's sloppy fielding for the team’s 5-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in the 27th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (October 12).

After winning the toss, DC decided to bat first but didn’t get a good start as they lost their opener Prithvi Shaw for just 4 runs off 3 balls and then Ajinkya Rahane for 15, but it was Shikhar Dhawan who this time took the charge of his team and helped the Capitals to put up a challenging score on the board.

Dhawan played a brilliant knock of 69 off 52 and then got a good support from DC skipper Shreyas Iyer (42 off 33) to help the Capitals post 162/4 on the board against the defending champions.

Meanwhile, the MI chased down the target 163 with two balls to spare on the back of Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav – both played knocks of 53 each to beat DC by 5 wickets in Abu Dhabi.

However, Kagiso Rabada did a brilliant job for the DC as he returned with the figures of 2-28, but few mistakes on the outfield cost them the game against the MI in the ongoing IPL 2020.

Akshar said in a video posted on DC’s twitter handle: “All bowlers were confident and were expecting what we had planned. I feel if we had avoided a few misfields and drops the result might have been different. There's not much difference but the way we fought till the last ball, that was very good.”

However, the all-rounder feels there are some positives that could be taken from the defeated game. He signed off by saying, “The positives which we take from this game are that our batsman is scoring runs. Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan is coming into form, Shreyas is in form.”

Noteworthy, Delhi Capitals will next lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on October 14 in the IPL 13.
