A new name was added to the list of players who have been ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2020 due to injury, as Delhi Capitals lost the services of fast bowler Ishant Sharma. Earlier they had to say goodbye to spinner Amit Mishra after he suffered a broken finger a few matches ago.
Ishant had only played one game in the tournament so far, which was against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“Delhi Capitals fast bowler Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear,” a statement from the franchise on its website said.
“This injury will, unfortunately, rule him out of the remainder of the Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020. Everyone at Delhi Capitals wishes Ishant a speedy recovery,” the statement added.
Apart from these two telling blows, the Delhi Capitals also missed the services of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant in their last match against MI due to a hamstring injury and is expected to miss atleast one week of action.
Delhi Capitals have good strength in fast bowlers with Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel, Mohit Sharma, Avesh Khan, and Tushar Deshpande in the squad.
DC will next face off against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, October 14 and they play another two games after that within the next eight days.
