IPL 2020: KKR left surprised after Sunil Narine gets reported for suspect action again

Narine was reported after playing a crucial role in the victory over KXIP in Abu Dhabi.

Sunil Narine | IANS Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were surprised after their veteran spinner Sunil Narine had been reported for a suspect action following the team's previous match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 7).

Narine bowled a crucial spell, including the final over of the run-chase, in his team's important ten-run win. But after the outcome, he was called out for suspect action by the officiating umpires.

The 32-year-old has been placed on a warning list and will be permitted to bowl in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before being officially cleared.

"This came as a surprise to the franchise and Mr. Narine, considering he has played over 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and as many as 68 games since 2015, when he was last reported during the IPL season for a suspect action before being subsequently cleared completely by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility," said KKR in a statement.

"Having said this, we are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation being extended by the IPL in expediting this matter," the franchise added.

Narine, an integral part of the two-time champions since his entry in the KKR set-up back in 2012, has taken five wickets in six innings while going at an economy rate of 8.09 in the tournament so far.
