Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman Chris Gayle isn't part of their playing XI despite being in contention, and the reason is his ailment. He shared a picture from the hospital bed to thank his fans for the concerns.
Only Gayle, who is popularly called as 'Universe Boss', can chill on a hospital bed. In the photo shared on his Instagram account, the Caribbean cricketer is talking to someone on phone with cucumber slices on his eyes and drink in the hand.
Head coach Anil Kumble had said Gayle was supposed to be a part of the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but had to sit out because of food poisoning. “Chris Gayle was going to play against SRH but he is sick. He is down with food poisoning that's why he isn't in playing eleven,” Kumble told commentators during the game.

Posting the picture on Instagram, Gayle said he won't go down with a fight. “I can tell you this!!! I will never go down without a fight!! I Am The #UniverseBoss - That will never change!! You can learn from me...but it’s not everything I do you should follow!! Don’t forget my style and flare too. Thanks for all your concerns peeps, much appreciated,” he captioned his Insta post.
Currently, KXIP is struggling in the ongoing IPL 2020 and they are at last position in the points table. Fans wanted Gayle to be a part of the side from the first game, but he was asked to sit out.
Now, after Gayle is down because of food poisoning, cricket pundits are wondering if KXIP waited too late before including him in the side? It may cost their playoff chances.
