IPL 2020: CSK batsmen treating the franchise as a government job, says Virender Sehwag

CSK suffered their fourth defeat of the ongoing IPL season on Wednesday.

Sehwag was particularly critical of Kedar Jadhav | IANSFormer India opener Virender Sehwag took a jibe at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the MS Dhoni-led side coped their fourth defeat of the ongoing IPL season in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 7).

Chasing 168 to win against KKR, CSK’s middle-order once again faltered under pressure after Shane Watson (50 off 40 balls) and Ambati Rayudu (30 off 27 balls) gave the team a solid foundation with a 69-run stand for the second wicket.

The likes of Dhoni (11), Sam Curran (17), Kedar Jadhav (7*) and Ravindra Jadeja (21*) failed to make a mark with the bat as CSK fell 10-run short of the target.

While criticizing, Sehwag said CSK players are treating the franchise as a government job.

“It should have been chased down. But the dot balls played by Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja didn’t help. And, in my view, some of the Chennai Super Kings batsmen think of CSK as a government job, whether you perform or not, they know they’ll get their salary anyway,” he told Cricbuzz.

Sehwag also took Jadhav to task as the latter played 12 deliveries to score his 7 runs.

In the latest episode of his Facebook series ‘Viru Ki Baithak‘, Sehwag called Jadhav ‘a useless decoration’ in Hindi and sarcastically hailed him as the real ‘Man of the Match’ against KKR.

They will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next clash on Saturday (October 10).
