Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was effective for his team with the ball against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 clash on Wednesday (October 7). He had missed out in first three games because of injury before finally getting into playing XI.

Bravo picked up three wickets against KKR, which included the important wicket of Rahul Tripathi, who scored 81 runs. He revealed a chat with skipper MS Dhoni helped him get better.

Dhoni suggested Bravo to bowl hard lengths and make sure the new batsman faces more deliveries. Initially, the Caribbean cricketer was very defensive with his bowling.

“I was looking to be defensive but MS Dhoni wanted me to hit the hard lengths and keep the new batsman on strike for as long as possible. It is good to have this experience around and have these discussions. I stuck to bowling the hard lengths and it worked,” Bravo told Star Sports.

“It is a very good batting wicket and there isn’t much grip. Most batsmen look for my slower balls. The yorker is the best ball and the safest ball. The game plan was to bowl wide and bowl as many yorkers as possible.”

Missing games because of injury can be frustrating for a cricketer, but Bravo made it clear that he wasn't.

“I wasn’t frustrated, obviously I came in with a groin injury but I was happy to see guys like Sam Curran and Hazlewood get good experience. At my age, it doesn’t make sense to play all games. When I get the opportunity, I back myself to do well,” said Bravo.
