Former Indian cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has pointed out the biggest cause of concern for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) their batting form ahead of their big IPL 2020 clash against the high-flying Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday (6 October) in Abu Dhabi.

The Royals started their IPL 2020 campaign on a winning note, registering two stunning victories in high-scoring affairs in Sharjah, but suffered two defeats on the trot against KKR and RCB in their last two games because of their over-reliance on the Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, and Sanju Samson.

Ahead of their next IPL 2020 clash against a tough MI, Gambhir has warned the Royals of their poor batting form as the failure of their top order has caused their middle-order to fluster in their last two games in the ongoing tournament in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively.

The major cause of concern for RR is the form of their experienced batsman Robin Uthappa who has not looked in any kind of form, scoring 5, 9, 2, and 17 in four games so far. and young gun Riyan Parag.

Warning the duo, Gambhir said the time is running out for Uthappa and Riyan while insisting that his former KKR teammate must fire and provide the much-needed momentum in the middle-order to thrive on the expectations in the ongoing IPL 13.

Gambhir told ESPNCricinfo, “Time’s running out for both Robin Uthappa and Riyan Parag. Uthappa has not looked in any kind of form, to be honest. Robin Uthappa has to deliver. There were a lot of expectations that Robin will be able to finish off games, and if not that, at least give them the momentum they need in the middle order.”

He signed off by saying, “So, Robin needs to deliver on those expectations. Riyan Parag has not looked in any kind of form either. So, obviously, they have guys sitting on the bench, plus when Ben Stokes shows in, the combination will be completely different.”
