Chennai Super Kings decimated Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and ended their three match's losing streak.
Earlier Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bat first. Captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave a good start of 61 runs in 8 overs. Mayank got out on Chawla's bowling for 26 runs. Mandeep Singh also hit two sixes but he too could manage only 27 runs. KL Rahul was batting slowly and brought up his fifty off 46 balls and along with Pooran added 56 runs in 5 overs.
Both the batsmen were looking dangerous but Shardul Thakur dismissed them on back-to-back balls and brought his team back into the game and in the last three overs, Punjab could manage only 26 runs and finished on 178/4 in 20 overs. KL Rahul scored 63 runs off 52 balls.
In reply, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson batted with an attacking mindset, and this approach paid off and after getting set they started smashing every Punjab bowler all over the park and thus they made the chase a cakewalk and eventually in the18th over they scored the winning run and helped their team to register a record 10 wickets win. Shane Watson scored 83* runs while Faf du Plessis played 87* runs knock.
