IPL 2020: Shane Watson's prediction of ‘perfect game for CSK coming’ turns out to be true

Watson and Du Plessis shared a record opening stand for CSK in IPL against KXIP.

Watson and Du Plessis shared a record opening stand for CSK in IPL against KXIP | TwitterThe Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had won their first match of the IPL 2020 against Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on September 19, but since then lost three matches in a row, something that happened after almost a decade.

MS Dhoni was being targeted for batting too low, while opener Shane Watson took the brunt for his indifferent form as well. Apart from this, the team reeled from the fact that their two senior players- Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, opted out of the tournament before it started.

The abundance of players over the age of 33 and their fitness suffered as the UAE heat began to take its toll, even on someone like MS Dhoni, who is considered to be one of the fittest players around, even at the age of 39. The team was looking for something to go their way as a chance to come back to the winning ways and Watson predicted the same.

Before their encounter against Kings XI Punjab, Watson tweeted and predicted that the upcoming game would be the perfect game for them to mount their comeback.

And behold, his prediction came true as CSK won the match by 10 wickets in the end. They started well against the KL Rahul-led side, first keeping them to 178/4 in 20 overs and then Watson himself, along with Faf du Plessis adding an unbeaten 181 runs for the first wicket in the chase and both scoring half-centuries.
