IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as Virat Kohli’s first fifty in IPL 13 powers RCB to big win over RR

RCB chased down Rajasthan's target of 155 with five balls to spare.

Virat Kohli | IANSRoyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 15th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (October 3).

Opting to bat first, RR posted 154/6 in 20 overs on the back of Mahipal Lomror’s 39-ball 47 and Tewatia’s unbeaten 12-ball 24.

For RCB, leg-spinner Yuzevndra Chahal (3-24) was the stand-out bowler while Navdeep Saini (1-37) and Isuru Udana (2-41) claimed two wickets between them.

In reply, RCB lost Aaron Finch (8) cheaply but the duo of Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Virat Kohli added 99 runs for the second wicket to put their team on the brink of victory. In the process, Kohli also completed his first half-century of this year’s IPL.

Jofra Archer broke the partnership by removing Padikkal for 45-ball 63, which led to AB de Villiers’ arrival at the crease. Subsequently, the pair of Kohli (72 not out off 53 balls) and De Villiers (12 not out off 10 balls) forged a 34-run stand to take RCB over the line with 8 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

Cricket experts were might impressed with RCB’s clinical performance in all departments against the inaugural IPL champions.
