IPL 2020: RR confirms Ben Stokes' departure for UAE with a ‘Stoked’ post

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to finally get the major boost in form of the star all-rounder Ben Stokes before the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 enter into the second stage of the league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Stokes has been in Christchurch with his family since August 2020 to be with his father Ged who was going through the treatment for brain cancer after getting an indefinite compassionate leave from the ECB.

Well, the star all-rounder is now set to return to cricketing actions, as he has finally flown from Christchurch to the UAE to join his IPL franchise RR for the ongoing IPL 2020.

Till the date, there were a lot of speculations over England’s 2019 World Cup-winning all-rounder’s participation in the ongoing IPL 2020, but now the RR’s latest post on social media cleared all the air by confirming Stokes has finally taken the flight from New Zealand to UAE.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the RR asked its fans about the time required to travel from Christchurch to UAE on Twitter and now they shared a picture of Stokes en route to the UAE with the caption “Stoked” with an aircraft emoticon. Well, the all-rounder is now set to land UAE on Sunday morning.

Hours ago, the all-rounder had also shared images of him with his family on Instagram with the caption: 'goodbyes never get easier'.

As per the COVID-19 protocols for the IPL 2020, Stokes will have to undergo six days of quarantine on arrival in the UAE before joining his RR teammates at training. He could be available for the RR in their IPL 13 clash against Delhi Capitals on October 14.

Stokes' arrival will significantly boost the Royals' chances in the tournament, as well as, give their team the much-needed balance as they are already in a good position in the point table with the only defeat of their 3 outings in the ongoing IPL 2020.
