Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to terminate contractual relationship with veteran left-hander Suresh Raina and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh after they skipped the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE.
Both the players, who were in the final year of their existing contracts, pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons.

"CSK have not only removed the names of Raina and Harbhajan from their official website but as per the norm has also initiated the process of terminating all contractual relationship with both the players," states a report by InsideSport.
"As per the IPL Auction guidelines in 2018," the report further mentions, "both Harbhajan & Raina had signed a 3 years deal with the CSK which was finishing with the 2020 season of IPL."
With the two players declining to make themselves available for the tournament, in Raina's case despite earlier travelling for it, the franchise is beginning to move forward and part ways looking at the future.
Raina had signed a deal worth INR 11 crores per year while the contractual amount in Harbhajan's case was 2 crores. It is understood, no salaries will be credited to the two players for the season.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, when contacted by InsideSport, refused to comment on the issue, but didn't deny the possibility of the development either. On the salary for IPL 2020, Viswanathan was quoted saying, "players will only be paid if they play as they are not playing they won’t be paid".
If their CSK contracts are indeed terminated, the possibility of both Raina and Harbhajan ending up sitting out of the next IPL in six months time can't also be ruled out, as the paucity of time may push BCCI into considering having no players auction.
