IPL 2020: "Special thing about sport is friendship", Virat Kohli shares heartfelt message for AB de Villiers

Indian captain Virat Kohli and South African batting superstar AB de Villiers are the two strongest pillars of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The two global cricketing icons have won the games for the RCB on the back of their incredible batting and excellent partnership on many occasions in the IPL. Well, De Villiers and Kohli are not only great teammates but also are very good friends – which is clearly visible on the field too.

RCB’s two stars share great camaraderie with each other both on and off the field, as well as, both respect each other a lot. They have been part of the RCB for more than 5 years now - the time has only strengthened the bond between Kohli and De Villiers and mutual admiration for each other.

Well, Kohli’s latest post on Instagram is absolutely showing the true and pure friendship between the two great sportsmen of the world and how it should be.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday (1st October), Kohli shared an emotional yet heartfelt message for his friend and teammate De Villiers along with a picture of himself with the Proteas great.

The picture was from RCB's super over win over the 4-time champions Mumbai Indians, wherein the two cricketers can be seen hugging each other to celebrate the victory.

Reminiscing their great camaraderie, Kohli wrote: “The most special thing about sport is the friendship and mutual respect you share with your teammates along your journey. Sport is beautiful.”

Noteworthy, RCB made a good to their IPL 2020 campaign winning 2 games of their three outings in the tournament so far. They will next take on Rajasthan Royals on 3rd October in the IPL 13.

In the tournament, Kohli has been struggling to find his feet, while De Villiers has been in fine form with the bat, hitting a couple of half-centuries in the first three games of the IPL 2020.
