Gill top-scored for KKR with 47 off 34 balls | TwitterKolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) opener Shubman Gill has had a very good IPL 2020 so far and has been instrumental in his team’s victories so far. In their last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Gill made 47 off 34 balls, to ensure KKR put up a fighting total in Dubai.

Gill hit five fours and a six in his stay in the middle. While all his boundaries were picture-perfect there was one shot that bowled over legendary India opener Sunil Gavaskar.

The Punjab batsman slammed Ankit Rajpoot straight over his head for a big six in the second over of the match. It was a length delivery around off stump, Gill took a good stride forward, got his head down, and just timed it straight over the bowler.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has called Gill one of his favorite batsmen and gushed over the shot, saying he could watch that shot again and again because of the steady head position of the KKR opener.

I can watch this over and over again because of the stillness of the head. Wow, that is a magnificent shot. He’s one of my favorite batsmen,” Gavaskar said during commentary.

Here is the video of Shubman Gill’s straight six off Rajpoot:

KKR put up 174/6 in 20 overs as Eoin Morgan made 34* to boost up the Riders’ total past 160. In reply, Jos Buttler (21) and Tom Curran (54*) were the only batsmen from RR to put up some fight, as two wickets apiece from Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Varun Chakravarthy helped KKR register a 37-run win.
