Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 12th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (September 30).
Asked to bat first, KKR posted 174/6 on the board. Opener Shubman Gill was the top-scorer with 34-ball 47 while Eoin Morgan played a vital knock of 34 not out in 23 deliveries.
Jofra Archer was the stand-out bowler for RR, claiming 2 wickets by conceding only 18 runs in his four overs.
Defending the total, Kolkata’s young pacers, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, wreaked havoc on Rajasthan’s batting line-up. While Mavi dismissed Jos Buttler (21) and Sanju Samson (8), Nagarkoti removed Robin Uthappa (2) and Riyan Parag (1).
Pat Cummins got the prized scalp of Steve Smith (3) cheaply as KKR reduced RR to 42/5. Royals’ hero of the last game, Rahul Tewatia, also failed to make a mark on this occasion and was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy for 14.
Although Tom Curran (54 not out off 36 balls) struck some lusty blows in the death overs, RR could only manage 137/9 from their stipulated 20 overs.
Cricket experts were mighty impressed by KKR bowlers’ effort against the scary RR batting line-up.
