Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Simon Katich has asked his players to be ruthless in order to finish the oppositions off in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Katich’s remark came after Virat Kohli-led RCB defeated Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) in a thrilling super over in the ongoing IPL 2020 on Monday (September 28) in Dubai.
The RCB finished off the game brilliantly after the 10th match of the IPL 13 ended in a tie following both teams scored 201 runs in 20 overs in the original game, as the defending champions could manage only seven runs off Navdeep Saini – which Kohli and AB de Villiers chased down with ease on Monday.
Katich said after the game, “The thing that stands out was obviously how skipper Kohli decided to negotiate all his bowlers. Washington Sundar bowled three overs in the powerplay for just seven runs and that was absolutely magnificent. Negi was fantastic as he held three catches.”
The coach further noted, “Isuru Udana got his first wicket for RCB. The energy out there was magnificent to watch, I do not think we deserved to lose that game against Mumbai.”
So far in the IPL 2020, RCB has played 3 matches in which the franchise lost the only game against the KXIP, and Katich has insisted that there are more positives than negatives to take from those games. He also stressed the need to be ruthless and tidy up to go long way in the IPL 13.
He signed off by saying, “We did a lot of things right, there are more positives than negatives. In all three matches, we have given the opposition chances, if we are ruthless we will finish them off. If we tidy up, we will go a long way. This game owes us nothing so we will have to start again.”
