IPL 2020: ‘Samson should have been playing for India from 2015 regularly in all formats’ – Sreesanth

Samson is having a great time in the ongoing IPL in UAE.

Sanju Samson | IANSSanju Samson has been garnering praises from all quarters after his successive whirlwind knocks in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) victories over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

While Samson hit 32-ball 74 in Royals’ IPL 2020 opener against CSK, he smashed 42-ball 85 versus KXIP to leave everyone in awe.

Legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Shane Warne, Kevin Pietersen among others lauded Samson for his herculean effort, but it was Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s praise that caught everyone’s attention.

In his tweet on September 27, Tharoor said he knows Samson since a decade now and he had told the wicketkeeper-batsman that he would be the next MS Dhoni when he was 14-year-old.

Replying to Tharoor’s tweet, former India opener Gautam Gambhir wrote: “Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone. He will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson of Indian Cricket.”

Echoing Gambhir’s sentiment, India's two-time World Cup-winning pacer S Sreesanth on Monday (September 28) said Samson is not "next Dhoni" and if given the "right opportunities" he would probably have won few World Cups for India.

Sanju Samson will now be seen in action against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Abu Dhabi on October 3.
