Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan’s tweet after the nail-biting finish between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) created quite a buzz on the micro-blogging site.
In the 9th game of IPL 2020 on Sunday (September 27), KXIP failed to defend a massive total of 223 as Sanju Samson (85 off 42 balls), Rahul Tewatia (53 off 31 balls) and Steve Smith (50 off 27 balls) produced blinders to script Royal’s four-wicket victory.
At one stage, RR needed 51 runs from the last three overs and Tewatia turned the match on its head by smashing Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over. The inaugural IPL champions eventually chased the target with three balls to spare.
After the match, Pathan took to Twitter and wrote: “Csk vs RR and kings11 vs RR games were very similar... #ipl”.
For some reason, fans felt Irfan took a dig at Dhoni with this post as CSK failed to chase the target of 217 against RR with its skipper scoring 29* off 17 balls last week. In that game, Dhoni had also demoted himself to No. 7 in the batting order and received a lot of flak for the same.
