IPL 2020: “New ambassador of jealousy,” fans slam Gambhir on his dig at Samson-Dhoni comparison

Gambhir said that Samson doesn't need to be next anything; he will be the first Sanju Samson of Indian cricket.

Tharoor called Samson the next Dhoni, Gambhir said that he will be the first Sanju Samson Former India captain Gautam Gambhir is under fire from MS Dhoni fans after his comments on Congress leader Shashi Tharoor comparing Rajasthan Royals’ batsman Sanju Samson with former India keeper, who leads Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2020.

It all happened after Samson’s stunning and Man of the Match worthy knock for Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday, as he slammed 85 off just 42 balls to star in Royals’ record win. RR chased down a 224-run target thanks to fireworks from Rahul Tewatia and Jofra Archer.

IPL 2020: Sanju Samson says after a lot of deliberation, he dedicated himself wholly to cricket

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor took to Twitter to praise the batsman and recalled how he had told him he would be the next MS Dhoni. However, Gambhir took offense to Tharoor comparing Dhoni and Samson and wrote that the Kerala star ‘does not need to be the next anyone’ and that he will be ‘the Sanju Samson of Indian cricket’.

However, this tweet of Gambhir resulted in a storm on Twitter with several die-hard Dhoni fans slamming him for taking a dig at the 2011 World Cup-winning captain, who has also lifted the IPL trophy three times.
