IPL 2020: ‘Surprised that he is not playing all forms of cricket for India’, Warne lauds Samson

Sanju Samson | IANSSanju Samson has been garnering praises from all quarters after his whirlwind 32-ball 74 in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) 16-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday (September 22) at Sharjah.

Riding on Samson’s extraordinary knock, RR posted a mammoth 216/7 in 20 overs. His innings was laced with one four and nine sixes.

After greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Gautam Gambhir and Steve Smith, spin legend Shane Warne has lauded Samson by expressing surprise that the wicketkeeper-batsman is not playing for India across formats.

"Sanju Samson, what a player he is. I have said for a long time and I think Sanju Samson is probably one of the most exciting players I have seen for a long time. I am surprised that he is not playing all forms of cricket for India," Warne said in an Instagram live session of Rajasthan Royals.

"He is that good. He is an absolute champion he is got all the shots, quality, and class,” he added.

Against CSK, Samson completed his fifty in just 19 deliveries and won the Player-of-the- Match award for his knock.

Impressed by his strokeplay, former India opener Gambhir had called Samson the best young batsman in the country.

Sanju Samson will now be seen in action against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday (September 27).
