Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Ambati Rayudu's game-changing innings against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2020 has brought back the discussion on India's World Cup 2019 squad. He smashed 71 runs in 48 balls for CSK which made it easier for them to chase down 163 runs despite being 2 down on just 6 runs.

Many feel Rayudu deserved to play the tournament despite being a little out of touch as the World Cup came close. He was initially in the contention but selectors preferred Vijay Shankar over him. Even Harbhajan Singh, who is not playing IPL 2020, felt Ambati deserved to play the World Cup.

“The partnership between Rayudu and Du Plessis was the game-changing moment for Chennai Super Kings. We have made a bright start and we need to keep moving forward like this,” he said in an interview with Sports Tak.

Harbhajan added, “I remember that when we had won the IPL two years back, we had defeated Mumbai Indians in the first game. So, it is a good omen for us and I hope we will finish well again.”

Commenting on Rayudu's omission from the World Cup 2019 squad, Harbhajan said, “It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel there was an injustice done to him when the World Cup team was picked. He should have been definitely there in that team. But he has shown again in this match, how much ability he has and that age is on one side and talent is also something that needs to be looked at."
