Legendary Indian batsman Virender Sehwag believes that the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE is going to be “extra special” and majorly because of MS Dhoni.
Dhoni is all set to be seen in action for the first time since the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in July when he will captain the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020 opener against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on 19th September in Abu Dhabi.
All fans and players around the globe are eager to see the legendary cricketer getting back on the pitch in the IPL 13 after he announced his international retirement in August 2020 following a year-long sabbatical from all forms of the game.
Sehwag said on the show ‘Power Play with Champions’ on Flipkart Video: “I think this tournament will be extra special for everyone – the players as well as the audience...watching Dhoni back on the pitch is sure to be a delight. There’s so much in store, need I say more?”
The former opening batsman, who is co-hosting the show, further revealed that he has spent a lot of time during the lockdown watching old matches while claiming cricket is an integral part of an Indian's DNA and they all have waited long for the game’s to return due to pandemic.
He signed off by saying, “I've spent a lot of my time during the lockdown watching old matches, analyzing them, including my own innings. Cricket forms an important part of our DNA as Indians and we've waited with bated breath for it to return.”
