IPL 2020: "IPL stint with RCB a good opportunity to bowl with Chahal" - Zampa

Adam Zampa will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 in UAE.

Adam Zampa | GettyAustralia's Adam Zampa said he loves playing alongside a fellow wrist-spinner and it is why the prospect of bowling in tandem with Yuzvendra Chahal is a genuine source of excitement for him ahead of his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Before 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zampa talked in praise of Chahal, one of the finest limited-overs spinners around, adding that the time spent with him will be made good use of by observing the leg-spinner do what he does best.

"I really enjoy bowling with another leg-spinner so it''s going to be a really good opportunity to bowl with Chahal," said Zampa as quoted by cricket.com.au. "We have similar traits but can learn a little bit from each other as well."

Zampa has been roped in by the Virat Kohli-led RCB side as replacement for pacer Kane Richardson. The much-improved spinner is expected to be really handy on surfaces at Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Besides picking Chahal's brains, the 28-year-old said he is also hoping to become a dependable death-overs bowling option, something traditionally spinners aren't preferred for.

Zampa was recently used by his Australian skipper Aaron Finch at the closing stages of the innings in an unsuccessful attempt during the T20Is versus England. The bowler has identified this as an area to nail down.

"I really enjoy bowling at the death, I love those pressure overs especially when the game is on the line," said Zampa, who has previously played in the IPL for the now-defunct Rising Pune Super Giants.

"They needed 18 to win off the last two overs (in the second T20) and I told Finchy I should bowl it. It obviously didn't go to plan but I'm not going to change my attitude after one game."

"I've got a really good opportunity in the IPL bowling with Chahal at RCB and I might get the opportunity to bowl those overs just because of the way the team is structured," he concluded.
