CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar was amongst the two players that tested positive for COVID-19 a couple of weeks ago. The pacer tested negative post-quarantine and has already begun practice for IPL 2020.

However, former Indian cricketer, Ajit Agarkar is concerned about the pacer's fitness as he will be getting limited preparation time. The yesteryear cricketer is hopeful that Chahar can see through the long tournament as he will be crucial for CSK.

Agarkar said on a Star Sports show, "As far as Chahar is concerned, I know Dhoni depends on him a lot to start with the new ball or bowls him upfront, but when you have not played cricket for as long as all these players have, plus he has had this extra quarantine because of turning positive might have less preparation time."

The 42-year-old believes that Chahar will be able to pull it off if he gets some sort of bowling into his legs prior to the tournament by playing some practice games.

"But hopefully, the fitness levels are there, it’s about getting the skills right and getting some sort of bowling into your legs while they have some practice games, he’s probably going to be ready," Agarkar concluded.

CSK will be playing the opener of the tournament on 19 September against the defending champions Mumbai Indians.
