"No matter what I am doing. I have always been determined to be the best version of myself, physically and mentally," he stated over Twitter in the build-up to the short film by 'Red Bull India' on Rahul's journey, the successes and failures he has seen.

In the film released this Sunday (September 13), Rahul revisited how he was left out of the Indian team in the early part of 2019 because of how his poor run with the bat coincided with the controversial incident during a popular TV show.

A year later, he featured for India in white-ball cricket as their first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman against Australia at home and on the tour of New Zealand that followed before COVID-19 pandemic brought the entire world to a halt.

Rahul also recalled the struggles of his Test debut at the MCG against Australia in 2014 and the ton that he scored in the next Test in Sydney.

In a message to his doubters, he added, "shut out the noise. Doubts? Question marks? We all face them, and I am no different. But what matters is how we react to them."

The 28-year-old has played 36 Tests, 32 ODIs, 41 T20Is and scored nearly 5,000 international runs for the country.

The cricketer will be seen captaining Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in UAE, starting September 19.
