The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have reportedly roped in USA fast bowler Ali Khan as Harry Gurney‘s replacement for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Gurney is set to undergo a shoulder surgery and thus he opted out of the cash-rich event last month.
Khan was part of the Trinbago Knight Riders’ (TKR) squad which remained unbeaten during their triumphant Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 campaign. The pace bowler claimed eight wickets in the tournament, conceding runs at a fairly decent economy of 7.43.
Taking to Instagram, Khan posted a picture with TKR teammate Dwayne Bravo, in which both of them can be seen on a flight.
Bravo also shared an Instagram story from the plane with caption, ‘next stop Dubai’.
Moreover, a report in ESPNCricinfo stated that the USA cricketer will turn out for KKR this season. However, there is no official confirmation from the franchise yet.
If the report turns out to be true, Khan will become the first player from USA to participate in the IPL.
Furthermore, it will be interesting to see if Khan gets an opportunity to represent KKR as they already have two overseas pacers in their ranks in the form of Pat Cummins and Lockie Ferguson.
As far as Ali Khan’s T20 record is concerned – the 29-year-old has taken 38 wickets in the shortest format from 36 matches at an economy rate of 8.63.
