R Ashwin bowling leg-spin in DC nets | DC TwitterDelhi Capitals’ newest trade from KXIP, off-spinner R Ashwin is known for his variety in bowling. He has lots of ball in his arsenal like the carom ball, the doosra, and even leg-spin. He has demonstrated his penchant to mix and bowl during the IPL in previous seasons and even in international cricket.

Ashwin had mentioned that he wished to work on his wrist spin and previously used to bowl it with a slightly tweaked action. But recently, during the DC nets, he was seen bowling wrist spin nice assimilated in his usual action.  A veteran of 139 IPL matches, Ashwin has picked up 125 wickets at an economy rate of 6.79 runs per over.

The Delhi Capitals posted a video of the same on their Twitter:

R Ashwin was the center of controversy last season of IPL when he ran out RR’s Jos Buttler at the non-strikers end via mankading and when he was traded to Capitals, the head coach Ricky Ponting said that he will not allow Ashwin to perform such a dismissal again.

Ashwin responded by saying he had an “interesting” chat with Ponting on the contentious subject and later revealed the contents of the chat where Ponting suggested a 10-run penalty for the batting side every time a batsman tried to steal ground at the non-striker's end, which Ponting said was  “basically cheating”.
