However, the former Australia all-rounder is confident that it won’t take him long to regain touch.

Rocked by a series of COVID-19 cases, the MS Dhoni-led CSK squad finally started training on Friday (September 4) after clearing three rounds of tests for the virus.

“How exciting it was to be back with all of my @ChennaiIPLmates for our first training session!!! It was so much fun. There was a little rust that will not take long to go,” Watson wrote on his Twitter handle.

The 39-year-old Watson, who was roped in by CSK ahead of the IPL 2018, has amassed 953 runs in 32 matches for the franchise in the last two years. He has also claimed six wickets.

Watson’s success could dictate CSK’s fortunes this season as the three-time champions have been left depleted after the pull out of veteran campaigners Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh.

It is worth mentioning here that Super Kings were forced to delay their training after completing the six-day quarantine period as their two players – Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad – tested positive for COVID-19 last week along with 11 members of the contingent.
