IPL 2020: Chris Gayle will be a part of our core group, says KXIP captain KL Rahul

Players will have to undergo RT-PCR tests on Day 1, 3, and 6 of the quarantine phase.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul on Tuesday (August 25) made it clear that the West Indian swashbuckling opening batsman Chris Gayle will be a part of the core group of the franchise in the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Gayle has played 24 matches for the KXIP in the IPL so far and scored 858 runs with his highest score being 104 not out in the 2018 edition and Rahul said it is great to have a match-winner like “universal boss” in the team ahead of the IPL 13 starting on 19th September in the UAE.

Rahul said in a video posted on the official website of the IPL: “We at Kings XI Punjab have had a great experience with Chris and me luckily, I have played with him for years now, we have shared great friendship, we have had some partnerships in the middle, he is a great guy to have in the team.”

The right-hander further added, “He will be a part of our core group, with the kind of experience he has, he will be somebody who will win matches for us.”

Noteworthy, all eight IPL franchises have reached UAE and are currently undergoing a mandatory seven-day quarantine period before starting the preparation for the IPL 2020.
