Aakash Chopra names his all-time Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) XI

Chopra excluded the likes of Adam Gilchrist from his all-time KXIP XI.

Chopra picked Gayle and Rahul as openers of his all-time KXIP XI | IANSFormer India and Kolkata Knight Riders opener Aakash Chopra has gotten ready with Indian Premier League related content now that there are just some days over a month left for the commencement of IPL 13 in the UAE.

The commentator decided to pick his all-time Kings XI Punjab playing XI featuring some of the best players who have turned out for the 2014 IPL finalists over the past decade and more in the cash-rich T20 tournament.

Chopra revealed the all-time KXIP XI on his YouTube channel and named KL Rahul and Chris Gayle as the openers of the team. Rahul will also be keeping wickets for the team. He then picked Shaun Marsh, Mahela Jayawardena, David Miller, and Yuvraj Singh as the middle order batsmen.

Chopra named Mahela Jayawardena as captain while also choosing Yuvraj Singh in the XISurprisingly, Chopra left out George Bailey, who captained the franchise in 2014 when they had reached the finals of the tournament, and named Jayawardena as the captain of the all-time XI. He was of the view that the Sri Lankan legend had a very clever mind in T20s and performed exceedingly well when he played for Punjab.

Miller and Yuvraj provide the big-hitting exploits in the late overs. R Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, and Akshar Patel were the choices as the spinners, with Patel also acting as the second all-rounder in the team along with Yuvraj Singh.

As for the pacers, Chopra went with Praveen Kumar and Sandeep Sharma over the likes of Brett Lee, Ryan Harris, or others who have played for the Kings XI over the years.
