IPL 2020: Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali joins IPL sponsorship race; Twitterverse reacts hilariously

BCCI is hunting for a new title sponsor for IPL 13 after Vivo pulled out.

Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved is in fray for IPL 13's title sponsorship The Indian Premier League (IPL) 13 will commence from September 19 in the UAE. This has been forced on the BCCI because of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India.

Just as everything seemed to be in place for the resumption of the most popular T20 league, IPL’s title sponsors, Chinese smartphone makers Vivo pulled out of this edition of the tournament, bowing to the anti-China sentiments in the country after the Galwan valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers.

Now the BCCI is in the hunt for replacement sponsors and apart from some speculated names like Amazon, Byju’s and Coca Cola, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved brand has also jumped into the fray trying to gain exposure on a global level, which was confirmed by Patanjali’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala confirmed to Economic Times.

We are considering the IPL title sponsorship for this year since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform,” he said.

However, this decision of theirs to enter the fray as a potential title sponsor of the IPL 2020 led to the Twitterati having a field day with hilarious tweets and memes for the entertainment of everyone.
