Former India pacer Irfan Pathan said he had enjoyed playing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first leg of the tournament was played in UAE and Irfan was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad.

IPL 2020 is scheduled to be played at UAE this time because of the worsening situation in India after the COVID-19 pandemic. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel has confirmed the tournament will take place from September 19, with the final on November 8.

Pathan said the experience in UAE was very satisfying. "It was a wonderful experience. The fans were very excited about the cricket coming there when we went there in 2014," said Pathan on Star Sports' 'Cricket Connected'.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah had hosted all the matches in the first phase. "The ball did move around a bit as well, except Sharjah. When you look at playing in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the ball did seam around a bit, it's an open stadium in Abu Dhabi as well. As a bowler, I enjoyed it."

Pathan also praised the training facilities and he thinks players will feel comfortable there.

"Everything is very well connected as well. The ground facilities, the pitches, the practice facilities make it very comfortable for players as well," said the former Indian bowler.

"But at the same time, hopefully, the issue of coronavirus pandemic won't be there. There will be fewer people so (I believe) the issue will be less as well."
