The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaiting the final word from the ICC on the T20 World Cup, before finalizing any plans for the IPL 2020. The major issue is with the venue to hold the tournament as India is suffering from a massive spike in COVID-19 cases.
UAE and Sri Lanka have thrown in their hats as potential alternate venues for the IPL, but the BCCI is non-committal on the decision. As per a BCCI source, the board is "exploring all options" to hold the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will take a call on conducting a training camp for players.
“As of now, nothing has been decided. We are watching the situation very closely and keeping track as far as hosting of the IPL is concerned. We are exploring all options and some countries have offered to hold IPL, UAE also. But we are going to wait and watch and will speak to the government also. We will do whatever is in the best interest of the country and cricket, will discuss in IPL GC," the source told ANI.

The source also revealed information about the player’s training camps and said, "Nothing has been decided as of now and we can't decide it so easily. Whatever is in the media is speculation. We are looking where to hold IPL and accordingly we will take a call on camp as well."
India saw a spike of almost 30,000 cases in one day taking the overall figures past the 9.60 lakh mark. With more than 550 people losing their lives, the total mortalities now stand at near 25,000.
Due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition of the IPL has been indefinitely postponed. However, international cricket returned with England and West Indies engaging in a three-match Test series which started with the visitors winning the first Test in Southampton.
