India’s 2-time World Cup-winning pacer S Sreesanth has confirmed that he will throw his name in the auction for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021.
Sreesanth is a born entertainer and even he kept entertained his fans through his acting and dancing during his time away from cricket for 7 years, but now it’s a turn for some cricketing action as he is all set to return to the competitive cricket again after his ban ends in September this year.
His alleged involvement in the infamous IPL spot-fixing saga in 2013 might have ruined his cricketing career, but it could not snatch the fighting spirit inside him, as he is now gearing up for comeback once his ban ends this September.
While the Kerala Cricket Association has already said that the India pacer would be included in the Kerala Ranji Trophy probable for the upcoming 2020-2021 season, Sreesanth has now revealed his plans to return to the IPL where he last played for Rajasthan Royals.
Sreesanth told CricTracker in an Instagram live session: “Obviously I will put my name in IPL 2021 Auction.”
The pacer further revealed that he would like to play for the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL because of Sachin Tendulkar’s presence in the support staff.

He added, “I will play for whatever team I get picked. But, as a cricket fan, it’s Men In Blue Mumbai Indians, because of Sachin Paaji, I played cricket to meet Sachin Tendulkar. If I get an opportunity to play for Mumbai Indians, why not, it will be a great thing to learn from Sachin paji from the dressing room.”
Apart from MI, Sreesanth would also love to be part of MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings or Virat Kohli’s Riyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the lucrative T20 tournament.
The 37-year-old added, “Also, I would love to play under Dhoni Bhai or RCB as well.”
Even, the pacer did not rule out the possibilities of his participation in the now-suspended IPL 2020. Sreesanth signed off by saying, “Even in this season some foreign players might not play and more Indians might be picked in the squads, then I have a chance to play.”
Noteworthy, the cricketer has represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is, and claimed 87, 75 and 7 wickets respectively apart from playing for Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and RR in the IPL.
