Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering every possibility for the Indian Premier League (IPL). One major IPL shareholder has suggested organizing IPL on a single venue entirely.

As per PTI reports, IPL could be played in Mumbai to avoid traveling from one city to another for the safety of the players.

The COVID-19 pandemic spoiled the scheduled date of IPL and now BCCI is planning to host it in September-October window if ICC cancels T20 World Cup.

“It’s at a very preliminary stage but if IPL happens in India and by October, the situation is under control in Mumbai, there are four top-class floodlit grounds available in Mumbai. The logistics for BCCI, broadcasters (Star Sports), maintaining a bio-bubble, everything could be managed smoothly,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Mumbai is already heavily affected because of COVID-19 and it could be a huge challenge for BCCI to organize IPL there.

Cricket will resume on July 8 after England and West Indies will play Test series in a bio-secure environment. If Mumbai manages to ensure the safety of players like this, IPL may take place.

“Obviously, everything depends on the Covid-19 situation in Mumbai. But if there are no spectators allowed and a bio-bubble is created, then Mumbai won’t be a bad option,” the official said.
