BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been doing his best in order to make holding the IPL 2020 this year a reality. The 13th edition of the tournament was supposed to start on March 29 but was postponed as the whole country went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then speculations are rife with people saying that IPL 2020 will be canceled, or held outside India, and even played without foreign players. However, it has been Sourav Ganguly, who has instilled confidence in the cricket lovers that the tournament will happen this year.
On Thursday, reports said that Sourav Ganguly has written to the state associations and talked about 'trying all possibilities' to host 2020 IPL this year.
"The BCCI is working on all possible options to ensure that we are able to stage the IPL this year, even if it means playing the tournament in empty stadiums. The fans, franchisees, players, broadcasters, sponsors, and all other stakeholders are keenly looking forward to the possibility of IPL being hosted this year,” Ganguly had written to all state associations.
"Recently a lot of players, both from India and other countries, participating in IPL have also shown their keenness on being a part of this year IPL. We are optimistic and the BCCI will shortly decide on the future course of action on this," Sourav Ganguly wrote.
