On This Day: WATCH- KKR reminds RCB of the day when they were bundled out for the lowest score in IPL

RCB holds the record for the highest and lowest scores in IPL- 263 and 49; both coming on April 23.

Nathan Coulter-Nile dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck | TwitterOn April 23, 2017, Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Royal Challenger Bangalore for the 27th match of the IPL 2017 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Virat Kohli won the match and chose to bowl first, keeping the home side to 131 with Sunil Narine making 34 and Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi picking a combination of 5 wickets. The total was a small one when compared to the mighty batting lineup of RCB.

However, the night turned out to be one of the worst ones for the Kohli-led side, as the famed batting line up of Gayle, De Villiers, Jadhav, and Kohli himself, failed against the masterful bowling from KKR bowlers and some inspired captaincy from Gautam Gambhir.

Kedhar Jadhav topped with 9 runs, as all 10 wickets fell for single-digit scores as RCB was bowled out for 49 runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed on the first ball he faced, while Gayle (7), De Villiers (8), and other failed to cope up with swing and seam movement generated by KKR pacers.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (3/21), Chris Woakes (3/6), and Colin de Grandhomme (3/4) were the destroyers in chief, as RCB were bundled out for just 49 runs, the lowest score in IPL history ever.

Incidentally, RCB oldest the record for the highest and lowest totals in the IPL- 263 and 49; both of which have come on the same date, April 23.

This is something the RCB franchise and fanbase wants to forget for eternity, but the Kolkata Knight Riders’ Twitter account decided to remind them of their misery as they tweeted,” #OnThisDay in 2017, the Knights pulled off one of our most memorable bowling performances in #IPL history!
